Would scientists be willing to write anonymous papers?

A lot has been written over the last decade about whether science is broken. Various problems have been pointed out with the publication oriented manner in which research is being carried out.  Among the solutions suggested in Current Science  is a drastic measure, which will likely not be received well, but which is hoped will at least have the effect of inducing some of us to reflect on the current system. The author suggests that all papers be anonymous. The question is not whether it is possible to actually implement anonymity in authorship and assessments that are not based on scientometrics, but whether we want to.
