Histories of global health

Part of the University of York’s Department of History, The WHO Collaborating Centre for Global Health Histories promotes inter-disciplinary work on themes of broad medical, scientific, environmental and public health importance.

The Centre has a YouTube channel where videos are posted from the WHO Global Health Histories seminar series. These seminars are a collaboration between the WHO Collaborating Centre and the WHO, with generous support from the Wellcome Trust. The series was established in late 2004 with its mission ‘based on the principle that understanding the history of health, especially during the last 60 years, helps the global public health community to respond to the challenges of today and help shape a healthier future for everyone.’ Seminars bring together external academic speakers and WHO policy makers to debate pressing issues in global public health.
